A Chef by trade, Peter Shelsky created Pete's Eats as a way to share his love of food. In Peter's own words, "Food, to me, was always more than just a necessity for survival. As much as I love to cook and to eat, I love to talk about food. In fact, I spend most of my waking hours talking about food. And at the many parties I have catered in peoples' homes. I've observed that the party always seems to find its way into the kitchen. People want to get involved, they want to know what is going on with the food. And that's how it came to me : Why not have the party where the guests want to be - in the kitchen!?"

Peter's culinary interest began when, as a young child, he would watch his Mother every night cooking delicious meals in their kitchen. Spoiled by the simple elegance of her home cooking, his love of food was born.

During his student years at Colgate University, he held several cooking jobs in local restaurants and after graduation, he realized that his love of food was too strong to relegate to just a hobby. So he got himself a stagier, or apprentice, position at Wallse Restaurant under the tutelage of Austrian chef, Kurt Gutenbrunner. While working there, he realized his desire for formal training by enrolling at The Institute of Culinary Education founded by Peter Kump.

He continued to "pay his dues" working at Wallse as a prep cook while studying at I.C.E, then took a promotion as the entremetier, or vegetable cook, on the hot line. After a year, he received a line cook position at Danny Meyer's celebrated new American restaurant, 11 Madison Park, then returned for a stint in another Kurt Gutenbrunner kitchen, this time as Chef de Cuisine at Cafe Sabarsky.

Peter honed his catering skills as a production chef at Abigail Kirsch Catering while creating Pete's Eats, and now he'd like nothing better than to entertain you and your guest with his love of food!
